Meal Planning Monday - 23/7/12

Didn't quite manage to stick to last week's plan, my boyfriend ended up with 5 late shifts in a row from Thursday until today. Normally he gets one or two late shifts a week, but he's been working from 5pm until 1.30am all week and I've hardly seen him because since moving I'm now working office hours on campus and am not working at home much any more. I tried to stick to the plan but ended up eating leftover potato and onion curry with leftover lentils cooked in the leftover curry sauce from the Indian meatballs we had on Wednesday for tea both Thursday and Friday. Made my life easier as I didn't have to cook much. I made the tomato tart on Saturday and still have a piece left to eat tonight. I'll be writing up the tomato tart recipe soon but I have to make it again because I forgot to take any decent photos. Not exactly a hardship because it was delicious! As the sausages are still lurking in the freezer they will get used up this week along with plenty of salads. Now that summer is here I want to enjoy some refreshing salads and I also want to cook some recipes from my book collection as well this week.
As always I've linked up with Mrs M.

Monday - leftover tomato and basil tart with green salad
Tuesday - hot dogs (cumberland sauages) with caramelized onions and homemade coleslaw
Wednesday - Pad Thai salad - recipe from Appetite For Reduction
Thursday - Blue cheese pasta (home alone and this is my treat!)
Friday - ????? Don't know what boyfriend is doing yet so will leave this one free for now
Saturday - Catalan chicken - recipe from The Real Taste of Spain
Sunday - Tomato and basil tart again because I want to enter it into some blog challenges this month but can't without decent photos!

    1. Drooling excused! It's not really a proper recipe for the pasta. I'm just going to make a basic white sauce and then add enough stilton, black pepper and nutmeg until it tastes good. I don't know exact quantities for the sauce, it's usually 1 spoonful of butter, melted, 1 spoonful of flour stirred in to make a roux and then enough milk to make a thick sauce. I just make enough sauce until it looks like it will drown my pasta!

  3. Oh yummy, yummy. Made me smile the photo thing, how often do we make something to add on our blogs? Half the time here everyone is hungry and groan while I take photo's so most of the time end up not :-/

  5. The tomato tart sounds really good. I eagerly await the recipe. I do love tomatoes. Shame my Mr does not.

  6. Shift work, especially ones where the shifts change at the last minute are such a pain. I can sympathise.

I'm now craving hot dogs and homemade coleslaw (heck any coleslaw - I'm the only one in the house that likes it and haven't had it for far too long!) Look forward to coming back and seeing the tomato tart recipe.
